The boat was very sturdy and seats about 50 people, there are restrooms on board the boat and the captain was experienced in navigating the boat skillfully over the waves. They pointed out lava tubes on the cliffs and explained the history on the way.
One of the beat things to do on Big Island! The experience of seeing lava flowing into the ocean was out of this world!
A must do on the island of hawaai.. we are so glad that we took the pre dawn trip. The ocean was much calmer and just the boat trip was so exciting. The up close experience with the lava meeting the ocean is incredible. We were almost 20 feet close to site and it was just surreal. This 45 min connection with mother nature is the Aloha spirt and thanks to the tour operators for making me live that spirit.
It was raining on the morning of our tour and the seas were rough making the ride bumpy (and scary!) but very memorable! A must do item!
Flat out awesome! Awesome, awesome, awesome! This is the closest you will ever get to lava! You go out on a massive and FAST boat to the lava flows, dress to get wet- took about 25 minutes. Once there you do pass after pass on each side of the boat. You can feel the steam and the radiant heat from the lava even from more than 20ft away. Yes it is expensive, but this is really an incredible once in a lifetime experience that leaves you grinning ear to ear.
This was amazing!!!! Did the sunrise tour was totally worth it the captain and team want safety first very informative!!
We enjoyed this tour, especially the boat ride! However, there was not much lava to be seen. I would recommend researching the day you go out to make sure there is enough lava flowing for the price you pay.
On reaching the lava flow they hover the boat for 15-20 minutes and give ample photo opportunities by turning it around in all directions both near and far. The lava flow changes every few mins and water washing off the lava creates the vapours.
