First off I'd like to say the inside of the homes were very nice, clean and as described. We actually rented two homes form the same people. (Kopoho Oceanside Villa and Kopoho Ocean View Home) The inside photos are very accurate, but the outside photos are not. The views are not as described, and the walk to the ponds is not very close. The pictures reflect the homes to be right on the water. They have pest issues for sure. (mainly at the home with the care taker below). There were several sightings of roaches (yes I know there are is issue with roaches in Hawaii due to the climate, we have been several times, rented many different homes, but this was excessive for sure). It was just gross, and should be addressed. We also saw several rats out on the balcony, not sure why, but maybe it’s because of all the trash and recyclables on the sides of the homes (everywhere)The main issue is the care taker below. She is just a rude and un happy person, and should not be in the position she is in. The first words out of her mouth after arriving and saying hello was don't lose the gate pass or it will cost you $100. We rented the house knowing there was a care taker below, but she was over the top rude and grumpy to my kids and family. She constantly complained at my kids for every little thing, including picking up the trash. She made it a point to call me up, and let me know that the kids are leaving trash "All over the yard." I got dressed, got my flashlight, shoes and got a garbage bag out. I went over the rather large yard from front to back in the dark. I found 1 otter pop (clear wrapper). That's it. Not trash all over the yard, but 1 clear otter pop wrapper. Ridiculous. There were many issues but the one that bugged me the most is her saying that the garbage man (transfer station for the rubbish) would not except mixed trash. She wanted all recyclables (cans, bottles ect) separated out. I asked my sister about this. She has lived in Hilo for 20 years, and it’s just a complete lie. The truth is she wants to keep all the cans and bottles and redeem them, and wants the renters of these homes to separate it out for her. The same renters that pay THOUSANDS of dollars. They should have to separate out cans and bottles for this caretakers benefit, and to have here lie about it just upset me. Lastly, her attitude and rudeness towards the kids was uncalled for. If they didn't want to rent homes to small children, they should just say so. I don't normally do reviews, and I am generally an easy going guy, but I spent over $6000 for two homes, and I we didn't have the time we should have for that kind of money. We go to a hotel next time where they care about customer service and want you to come back. Mike C Medford Oregon.
