This lookout spot provides a good perspective on the size of the Kilauea crater. Steam vents across the surface serve as good reminders that the volcano is much larger than the much smaller lava lake located at the other end of the crater. I appreciated finding what I imagine are tributes to the goddess Pele that people hung in the trees overlooking the crater. Hawaii's Big Island is a very powerful and spiritual place.
It's a must see if you visit the Volcano national Park, try to avoid just after sunset, there is a lot of traffic and people.
Nice during darkness. But still very far away from the lava.
