Great food, great service. Had local pig Benedict- pulled pork in place of ham with saffron rice. Beautiful! Food was excellent and our waitress was great. We've come to realize the food in this part of the world is pretty high standard, but this was excellent for the price.
I really wanted to love this place when I first approached. It is really cute and the atmosphere gives a cool vibe. They sell fresh fruit grown by the chef. My main problem was with the service. The staff was friendly, but very slow. We waited a long time before anyone came to the table. They were also out of a lot of stuff, which isn't the server's fault, but still a bit annoying. Once we did place the order, we waited around 10 minutes for our drinks. The food arrived shortly after, and was absolutely delicious! The good food definitely helped redeem this place for me. I would maybe try to come back when it isn't so busy or when another server is working.
Pete's Kitchen is the best place in the whole area of Pahoa.. Steve the owner grows and uses his own fruits and veggies. He is in the back cooking it up too! He even sells fresh fruit in the front window. You won't find any fresher or better price anywhere. Oh and Shirley ROCKS waiting tables and making you feel right at home.
Had brunch here and the food was fine, atmosphere is very laid back, coffee was disappointing. Worst part of the experience was just that the place was dirty..tables sticky and there was a raw shrimp laying on the ground in plain sight everyone was ignoring. Gross. When you come in they give you a little bread basket with pastries in it and they were really delicious.
Food is great. Restaurant itself is shabby and crowded. Parking can be difficult. Very popular for breakfast. Good value. We've been here twice because the food is so darn good.
