This trip on "Lavaone" was one of the premier standout experiences of my life. The trip to the Lava Flow exceeded all my expectations.
Worth every single dollar. We hesitated for so long, because it is a lot of money. But this really is a once in a lifetime experience! So glad we decided to go for it, you will never experience anything like this again.
This may be the highlight of your big island exploration. It was for us. The crew were very professional and took care to make the experience a good one. Our ride was a bit rough returning due at least in part to a storm that passed through around that time. The captain made some significant effort to minimize the bumps. We didn't get particularly wet but I can easily see the potential to get drenched under other circumstances, so plan accordingly.
Bring a rain poncho, because you will get wet! Be prepared for a bumpy and fast ride, but it so much fun. We did the sunrise tour and were amazed every second of it.
Overall Awesome Experience! Three adults in my group, all feel the same way about the experience. We hated to go home.
Very professional Skipper & Crew. A totally smooth and well oiled Machine, starting with the receptionist who made my reservations, to the various timely Emailed updates with trip details telling us how to prepare for our experience. I liked the organized way the skipper gathered everyone and organized boat loading. The support crew were there 100% right when they were needed.
This tour is not for the faint of heart or weak of body! This boat is designed to go FAST NOT SMOOTH and it will rock you. But it gets you CLOSE to the lava and for a lot longer than any other tour around! We had ages 4 to 64 and everyone had fun and no matter where you sit on the boat you get amazing views. Would recommend this to anyone who loves active adventures and looking to see Madam Pele at her finest!

The skipper set us right beside the lava flow where we could see, hear, smell, feel, and taste the environment for over 30 minutes.
